I am enjoying incorporating e-learning into the classroom and the children are showing enthusiasm for their new learning and sharing tool. When I started using a class wiki page, I saw it as a way to share what the children have learnt with their parents but I now understand that is more than that – the children are learning through our wiki by sharing ideas, reflecting on others work, viewing peers presentations and adding to group discussions. They are also beginning to create resources for others to view and learn and are therefore taking more ownership of their learning.
My next step is to locate a way to solve my ‘movie share’ problem. My children have made some great movies through movie maker but I cannot embed them in the wiki (I am not comfortable with the clips being on Youtube). Voicethread is great but will only let you store 3 movies at any one time.
I am also still finding using the classroom computers frustrating because they are slow and often won’t load the Wiki page to edit.
